Change of venue for future AFG Friday morning meetings!

Starting from Friday, 1st October we will be meeting up every Friday morning in The John Charles Lounge, Aberystwyth Football Club, Park Avenue.  Ruth’s Kitchen will be open for business serving tea, coffee, biscuits and breakfasts from 8.30 until 11.30.  AFG members can turn up when and as they please throughout the morning but the lounge will close at 12.00 noon.  AFG committee hope that by moving to a spacious airy venue with easy access and adjacent carpark our members will feel more encouraged to come along and thereby gain confidence to mix with friends again, as we learn to live with this highly transmittable virus while managing the risk to ourselves and others.

AFG committee have thanked the manager and staff at Harry’s for making us feel so welcome the past 3 Friday mornings and we intend to book group lunches there again in the future as we did before the pandemic.

We look forward to seeing you all,

Love and best wishes, Aislinn, Margaret, Edith, Mel and Lynn x

AFG Committee meeting in Harry's 02 Sep 2021.
From L to R Edith, Aislinn, Margaret, Mel and Lynn

AFG committee met up for lunch at Harry’s yesterday to discuss the best way to get things going again in respect of Covid 19 being a feature of our lives for the foreseeable future.  If nothing changes with the current GOV.WALES advice, we have agreed a start date of Friday 10th September, 10 o’clock.  The manager and all the staff in Harry’s are delighted with this news and will be waiting to welcome you all.  Hopefully, by the end of this month our bespoke lunch menu for members only should be in place too.

The advice given in guidance and support from GOV.WALES is that we need to learn to live with this highly transmittable virus and manage the risk to ourselves and others.  Even though most legal restrictions have now been lifted, and many people have been vaccinated, it is still possible to catch and spread the virus, even fully vaccinated.  So, by exercising common sense and considering the risks, a cautious approach to how we, the committee, organise future meetings, outings and events is needed in order to try to keep everyone safe.  If all goes well, we will organise a coach trip early in December to Charlies, Coed y Dinas Welshpool, for our members to do some Christmas shopping.

We are really looking forward to seeing you all again soon, stay safe, love and best wishes from Aislinn, Margaret, Edith, Lynn and Mel x
