Monday 22 October 2018

Our flowers in the tubs on the fence at the railway station have been slowly fading and looking a bit sad, many thanks to Melanie Burgess and her Wetherspoon breakfast buddies who have been watering them and keeping them going, especially through the summer heatwave.   This morning AFG member Anne Ellin, aided by her daughter Cara and grandson Henry, have been busy, plants have been replenished with underplanting of Spring bulbs.  An entertaining morning gardening session according to her message....  "The planting was great fun - and we had a lot of comments as we juggled with pots and step ladder etc etc.  Good cabaret for the early morning folk in Weatherspoons!!  :)"  Thank you Anne!  They look great and hopefully help to cheer everyone up passing by  xx

Do you have an art or craft project you have been longing to complete or one you are eager to start? Why not bring it along to our new Tuesday morning sessions.  Enjoy the company of other members and a free cuppa too.  If our sessions prove to be popular we are hoping to visit local exhibitions together and perhaps share our collective and vast knowledge of things arty and crafty.  For example, at the first session on the 6th March one of our members will be there with many years of knitting experience ready to help if you want to just get started or are stuck on a pattern.  Another member is bringing his art work to make use of the space and for some company.  The room has good facilities but spaces are limited. So, please let us know if you are intending to come along. We are looking forward to seeing you there.
