Our flowers in the tubs on the fence at the railway station have been slowly fading and looking a bit sad, many thanks to Melanie Burgess and her Wetherspoon breakfast buddies who have been watering them and keeping them going, especially through the summer heatwave. This morning AFG member Anne Ellin, aided by her daughter Cara and grandson Henry, have been busy, plants have been replenished with underplanting of Spring bulbs. An entertaining morning gardening session according to her message.... "The planting was great fun - and we had a lot of comments as we juggled with pots and step ladder etc etc. Good cabaret for the early morning folk in Weatherspoons!! :)" Thank you Anne! They look great and hopefully help to cheer everyone up passing by xx

Anne England has been busy replanting our flower tubs situated on the fence in the railway station, Yr Hen Orsaf, I received this message and photo from her last night "I have renewed our planters, currently they look a little subtle but in a very few weeks they should be a blaze of mauve, purple, pinks etc fingers crossed!" Thanks Anne, you're doing a great job brightening up the town!

We've been out and about again and lucky with the weather too! Members of Aberystwyth Friendship Group had a wonderful day out today (14th June) visiting the elegant Georgian villa Llanerchaeron. Everyone enjoyed a tour of the house, exploring the walled garden, then following a hearty lunch a stroll through the surrounding woodland, all on a glorious warm sunny day.

Another newspaper cutting for our scrapbook. As some of you may have noticed in last week's Cambrian News there was no mention of AFG in the report attached to the photograph of recipients of The High Sheriff Award Certificate . Better late than never, here is the missing write up in this week's issue:
Sunday 8 April 2018
Friday 6 April 2018
Wednesday 4 April 2018
Saturday 24 March 2018
Wednesday 21 March 2018

Members of AFG had a wonderful day out today - and the sun was shining too! An hour exploring the Cwmystwyth Mine Ruins was followed by a hearty lunch in Y Hafod Hotel. In the afternoon Peter Stevenson told fantastic and strange tales of Ceredigion accompanied by Ceri Owen Jones on harp and Elsa Davies on violin. A quick tea break, then we were treated to a most extraordinary, beautiful film about Hafod with Elsa, Ceri and Peter with film maker Jacob Whittaker. Big thank you to all the staff at Y Hafod Hotel.

Tesco AFG Arts & Crafts Coffee Morning every Tuesday10.30 to 12.30.
Do you have an art or craft project you have been longing
to complete or one you are eager to start? Why not bring it along to our new
Tuesday morning sessions. Enjoy the
company of other members and a free cuppa too.
If our sessions prove to be popular we are hoping to visit local
exhibitions together and perhaps share our collective and vast knowledge of
things arty and crafty. For example, at
the first session on the 6th March one of our members will be there
with many years of knitting experience ready to help if you want to just get
started or are stuck on a pattern. Another
member is bringing his art work to make use of the space and for some company. The room has good facilities but spaces are
limited. So, please let us know if you are intending to come along. We are looking
forward to seeing you there.
